TYPES OF TOOLS

Here we will introduce you to various PDR tools and related techniques in their application

For the performance of the PDR - repair with the optimal result, two major factors -

high-quality tools and a well-trained specialist who has the skills and experience to use them.

There are different techniques in the recovery of the recesses. This depends on the specificity of the damage itself, its location and various other factors that will determine with which methods and tools it will be appropriate to perform the repairs.

Technology in the PDR - the industry today, is already so developed around the world that it involves the use of different types of tools. Generally, they can be represented in several major types.

The basic set of PDRs - tools that are mandatory for all PDR specialists are:

  • Tools by means of which the depressions are pressed on them or the recess itself is raised by a number of successive outlets;

 With this technique, about 60% of the dummy operations are caused by hail damage to the vehicle.

The second set of tools is designed to pull the recesses with glue. These are:

  • PDR – reverse hammer;
  • PDR – hammer;
  • PDR – pliers for pulling;

These tools are used for specific manipulations that require the appropriate skills of trained technicians.

In this process, a specific amount of special hot PDR - silicone is applied to the aluminum mushrooms (paints, pins, tabs, etc.) so that they are prepared exactly on the recess. In the next step, the reverse PDR - hammer or pliers to get into operation - will take effect. By means of them, with precise and measured movements, the recess is pulled out. It is further processed with a hammer or PDR hammer.

Depending on the damage, this can be a technique that is applied in about 50% of vehicle repairs. One of the most important factors in choosing a method of work is the accessibility of the details, which is different for the respective brands of cars.

The third type of tool used to straighten dents without painting is:

  • Induction apparatus;

It is an apparatus that produces a very high temperature at work, which requires skill and experience in using it to avoid the risk of damage to the original paint. It is suitable for straightening small dents. Also, its application is particularly important in the "hardening" of large dents. They result in sheet metal stretching, which breaks the structure of the metal lattice. With the help of the induction apparatus, such details can be restored without the need for dyeing.
